GTA Alupang Duct
The project undertaken by HDCC involved the installation of six (6) 6” “Drill and Leave” conduits from the Alupang Beach area of the island out approximately 4000 linear feet to ultimately receive data/telecommunications cables. The diving tasks associated with this project included the removal of the drilling head from the drill stem followed by the installation of a pull-back line that will be used in the future to pull the data cables through the conduit. After the pull-back lines were installed, divers installed blank flanges on the ocean ends of the conduits to prevent in-filling of sand into the conduits. The specific tasks involved in the diving operations are as follows:
1. Disconnect “Bullnose” from the drill steel flange and rig it to the surface.
2. Install the bell mouth to the drill steel.
3. Install the pull-back swivel to the pull-back drill steel.
4. Install pull-back line onto the swivel.
5. When the pull-back line is pulled through, install flange and buoy on the drill steel flange.
